Abstract
A practical optimization method is presented for single-layer latticed dome under constraints on stress and buckling load. The allowable stress is defined based on the building code for steel structures in Japan. An approximate method is also presented for simple evaluation of responses considering geometrical nonlinearity. The optimization results using the proposed simple analysis procedure are verified by the commercially available finite element analysis software considering material and geometrical nonlinearity, and randomly generated initial geometrical imperfections.
