Abstract
This paper briefly reviews the principal form finding methods and propose a new approach based on membrane geometric stiffness and stress orthotropic components ratio to control efficiently the geometric forms. This approach provides the stress field distribution in the initial equilibrium state of the structure. The geometric form can be controlled by changing the stress ratio. Wrinkling effects are controlled by the reliability domain of the stress ratio, which is defined using technical properties of the fabric.
