Abstract
Corrugated "plane" sheets have an increased bending stiffness perpendicularly to the corrugation and a reduced tensile stiffness parallel to it. If these sheets are curved perpendicularly to the corrugation (“corrugated shells”), then the values of several stiffnesses deviate from those valid for “plane” sheets and, moreover, there is interaction between some stiffnesses in the sense that if external forces cause deformation against one of these stiffnesses, deformations corresponding to other stiffnesses develop as well. In this paper we will develop the flexibility characteristics of shells with parabolic corrugation with the aid of the theory of shell-arches. Inverting the flexibility matrix, the rigidity matrix will be obtained.
