Abstract
The takht-i-Taqdis whole building, built in 618 by Cosroes II, was set on rollers so that it could be turned in exact correspondence to the rotating sky. Even more significant was the apparatus for creating mock storms: machines for lightning, thunder and rain, all planned to induce the outer heavens to send real storms to replenish the earth and promote life.
