Abstract
This paper investigates the different shapes that the Multi-Reciprocal Grid could have using regular and semi-regualr grids. The concept is to create forms using grids. The structure is generated by elements mutually supporting each other; it is the addition of elements that creates a 3-dimensional form. The new structure is demountable, transportable, and quick to re-assemble. It could have various types of different geometry, simply or doubly curved, which gives almost an endless possibility of different architecture. As the elements support one another, their connections create a slope between each element, thus 2d grid will not stay flat. They will be curved in one or two direction. It depends on the degree of freedom of the node of the grid. The form of the structure depends on the grid chosen. The new structure may be particularly useful in emergency situations where rapid construction of shelters is needed. The structures could have only one type of element and one type of connection
