Abstract
The paper deals with Leonardo da Vinci's work about forces transferred to strings from a load they are carrying, or what we know as to resolve a force into two components. Combining lever arm and pulley he extended ArchimedesĀ“ rule for the lever to include inclined loads and lever arms rotating about their ends. Choosing points of rotation on the strings he found a correct geometric construction of his own, different from Stevin's parallelogram of forces.
