Abstract
Models have been an important tool in construction design both in the past and today. The use of physical models which can be replaced by computer technology is becoming less important. The belief in the complete replacement of physical models by computer technology has some positive characteristics: it leads to the further development of that technology as well as reaching narrowly defined pragmatic goals. This is why the role and function of physical models change; their real existence becomes an arbiter in the process of computer technology development.
