Abstract
This paper tries to derive a conceptual design, viewed from an aesthetic standpoint, for the harmonious development of cable-stayed bridges with a curvilinear deck which generate conoid ruled surfaces with the cables. In this paper the author would like to use a way of 'Exploring the old so that one would be able to know the new', learning from an example drawn from a previous achievement, an unique S-curved cable-stayed bridge built some time ago, 1987, in Japan, and in addition, through an example of the cultural heritage of a cable supported system in Japanese gardens. These conceptual design processes will be studied here, along with some architectonic proposals for cable-stayed bridges which are still in the initial stages, Fig.8., 9., 10.
