Abstract
The numerical method proposed is based on the minimization of the total potential energy of the structure and has been extended to include the eccentricity of stay attachment to the masts. The minimization process is achieved by utilizing the conjugate gradients method, in which the stability and bowing functions are included and updated using a Newton Raphson iteration. To verify the proposed method as well as the computer program developed for the investigation, a numerical analysis of a selected number of solved problems was conducted and the solutions obtained compared with those published by other investigators.
