  • Title: Dynamic behaviour of Prague- TV tower
  • Author(s): M. Pirner, O. Fischer
  • Keywords: tower, guyed masts, analysis, dynamic behaviour
Television towers; are in general onedimensional structures of the beam type and also their response can be considered as deflection in one plain. Nevertheless some masts, especially those guyed in three directions or the nonsymetrical ones, can be excited by wind not only in longitudinal and transversal directions, but also in torsion. This occurs especially if the mast support has been displaced by static wind and the forces in the guys are different. The measurements of the torsional movements of one real mast and of a wind tunnel model are being describes. The second part of the paper deals with the behaviour of the new TV tower in Prague, which is of nonsymetrical construction.
