Honorary Members of the IASS

Since 1963 from time to time, the IASS Executive Council has elected individuals with a distinguished record of outstanding achievement in the field of shells and/or spatial structures to Honorary Membership in the Association.  The first Honorary Memberships were awarded to the great Italian architect and structural engineer Pier Luigi Nervi and the renowned thin-shell concrete designer and builder Félix Candela.  Since then, it has been conferred 24 times during the last 45 years to members and non-members of the association.  The recipients are listed here according to their dates of election.
