IASS Committees

The organizational activites of the Association are carried out by various standing and ad hoc committees, while the Technical Activities are conducted by the Working Groups, which report to the Executive Council through the Technical Activities Committee. 

Standing Committees

    • Editorial Committee  (Chair: S. Pellegrino, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the IASS)
    • Financial Committee (Chair: R.E. Shaeffer, Treasurer)
    • Membership Committee (Chair: B.W. Smith)
    • Nominations and Elections Committee (Chair: R. Astudillo as Vice President from the Secretartiat) 
    • Representation on the Liaison Committee (President of the IASS and the Vice President from the Secretartiat)
    • Technical Activities Committee (Chair: R. Motro)
    • Honors and Awards Committee (Chair: N.K. Srivastava)
    • Tsuboi Awards Committee (Chair: N. K. Srivastava)
    • Hangai Prize Committee (Chair: M. Takayama; Secretary: K. Kawaguchi)
    • Website Committee (Chair: J.F. Abel):  Objective -- Specify and oversee the development of the IASS website and database; Assist in the continuing development and content-creation of the website.

Ad Hoc Committees

    • Spatial Structures: Actors and Projects (Chair: René Motro): Objective -- Develop a web browser template for compiling and displaying information about distinguished IASS members and their works.
    • IASS 50th Jubilee Committee (Chair: I. Mungan): Objective -- Organize and create a volume, "Fifty Years of Shell and Spatial Structures," to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the IASS in 2009.
