Abstract
Authors described a fractal lattice dome generated by seven contraction mapings in 3D space onto an original one. This paper reveals mathematical condition that the seven small domes as subsets generated by contraction mapping never overlap to keep one to one function. The useful formula to calculate Hausdorff dimension is also available under the condition. Next structural analysis on the hexagon domes was carried out. In the models, material is steel and a central angle of sectional arc is set 120 deg. and the diameter of the dome is assumed 60 meters. The contractivity varies from 0.3 to 0.37, which corresponds to the value from 1.69 to 1.89 in Hausdorff dimension. As for the vertical loading, dead load and live load of 2KN/ m2 are considered. Vertical displacement at the center of the dome shows the smallest value of 5.436cm when contractivity is 0.31.
