Abstract
The Xuzhou Olympic Center Stadium is located in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu province, China. It is a 35000 seat stadium,263m long, 243m wide and the maximum length of roof cantilever is 40m long. The steel structure roof of the stadium employs the non-circular spoke-wheel-type cable supported grid. It is a hybrid structure composed of rigid top layer and flexible lower tensile system. The top layer is a single-layer rigid grid with big central hole and small stiffness. It is supported by the lower spoke-wheel-type tensile cable-strut system. This type of structure is used in stadium for the first time. It has good illustrations of architecture and is economically efficient. This paper presents the mechanical behavior of this structure. The key design details such as form-finding, static, stability and joint analysis are also discussed.
