Abstract
The present study has a purpose not only to discuss the earthquake resistant capacity of a single layer reticulated dome but also to propose an evaluation method of seismic performance. Several results of earthquake response considering dynamic buckling obtained based on the response analysis are summarized in the present study for discussing the seismic performance of domes under severe earthquake motions with a focus on critical deformations. The ultimate limit strength is formulated as an ultimate seismic base shear coefficient which is defined to be seismic performance index obtained by multiplying its initial yield seismic intensity with dynamic ductility index. The critical deformation is determined considering accumulated plastic rotation of a member during dynamic response.
