Abstract
Based on reinforcement of a roof envelope system of an existing long span structure, numerical analyses of the original and reinforced roof envelope systems under wind uplift are conducted. And a 3-step numerical analysis method for obtaining the ultimate load-bearing capacity of a roof envelope system is proposed in this paper, which will effectively reduce the computational difficulties brought by contact analysis. The contact finite element analysis models of two roof connection systems are built by using plane strain elements and the failure modes are obtained respectively. The wind load-bearing capacity of two roof systems is obtained by using the proposed method. The numerical results indicate that the reinforced roofing system has a better performance than original one. The proposed method and numerical results provide a base and a valuable reference for the design and application of the similar aluminum alloy roof envelope system.
