Abstract
Why don’t use a low-cost and innovative materials to perform structural function? How to develop structural designs and satisfy, simultaneously, performance criteria, manufacturing process and execution methods? Where to get information about the serviceability of structures along the time? This paper presents a discussion about how to answer the questions above mentioned. This study includes the experimental program to characterization of the parameters to describe the structural behavior of thin plates composed of geopolymeric material reinforced with carbon fiber polymer. Initially, some projects using the concepts of sustainable architecture, promoting the use of geopolymeric materials, are presented. Then shows the composition of the geopolymeric material used in this study and the characterization of their mechanical properties. This study includes also plate bending tests, pull-out test and push-off test of the metallic inserts. It has used the advanced features of ATENA computational mechanics program, which correspond to the state of the art in Finite Element Modeling of reinforced concrete structures. The results of the calibrated model, based on experimental data, program are presented.
