Abstract
This research explores the possibility to use CNC milled industrial wax as formwork material for complex free-form and high precision ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) members and their geometric jointing systems. The use of “outer-wax-formworks”, into which the concrete is casted, allows for the highly efficient fabrication of concrete members, either made of UHPC or light-weight concrete, in nearly any geometrical shape with extremely small multi curved radii, sharp edges and thin wall thickness. In addition to that, the proposed system will be highly sustainable. The wax formwork as well as the milled off chips are 100% recyclable in this closed–loop production process. By re-melting the wax, waste products are completely avoided.
