Abstract
The plan of a gymnasium roof is similar to an elongated hexagon, 169 meters long and 92 meters wide. The steel roof structure is composed of two kinds of structure systems, respectively string-dome and string-beam. The key problem of construction scheme design is how to simultaneously implement the designed structure geometry and initial internal force of steel members. Based on the intrinsic law of string-dome/string-beam structure system, the characteristics of this hybrid cable structure, including its geometry, cable layout, the state of pretension distribution and interaction between cables, are analyzed and summarized, thus the fundamental rules and methods of cable construction are determined. The primary diagonal cables of the string-dome are prestressed while other subordinate diagonal cable and ring cables of the dome are length-fixed. The string-beam is prestressed twice, on the ground with jack first then by its self-weight. Staged construction process is simulated with FEA software, and the simulation results show that this construction scheme is reasonable and practicable. The actual construction work of the project has been completed by now, and the quality check results of construction are satisfactory.
