Abstract
Increasing the section size of stiffening rib can improve the force property of regular shaped steel coal scuttles. But the mechanical behaviors of special shaped steel coal scuttle are more complex than the regular's .Very few studies of the influence of increasing the section size of stiffening rib to improve the force property of special shaped steel coal scuttle have been made. Numerical analyses are carried out to investigate the mechanical behaviors of special shaped steel coal scuttle with increasing the section size of stiffening rib. Combined with a completed project, the paper shows the influence of force property of special shaped steel coal scuttle caused by horizontal stiffening ribs. It is found that the effect was more pronounced on improving the force property of special shaped steel coal scuttle by increasing the depth of section than increasing the width, but the depth should not be more than 350 mm.
