Abstract
In this paper, the structural design and the construction procedure of the building that is adjacent to railways are introduced. This building is a large-scale sports center constructed in an urban area, and it builds up large spaces. In the roof of the main-arena, Beam String Structure (B.S.S.) is adopted. B.S.S. enables not to influence the substructure of the building and to design the main-arena economically. Railways of Tokyo Monorail, Shinkansen that is Japanese super express train and East Japan Railway are operating in the north side of the site. Therefore, the crane can not be used in order not to influence the train operations in the adjacent area, and the slide construction method and the lift-up construction method are adopted to construct the building effectively and safely. This paper reports the structural design and the construction plan.
