Abstract
In the paper are shown some domains of application of theories elaborated by present author and published some years ago in his two books, used on Faculty of Civil Engineering of Warsaw University of Technology. The first is related to strength of materials and second for mechanics of straight thin-walled bars. The paper presents results of comparative strength analyses for straight bars with homogenous and composite cross-sections built from two materials steel and timber. Next, for the bars with the same cross-sections, applying there proposed by the author uniform criterion, were determined critical combined loadings and ultimate instability surfaces.
