Abstract
This paper studies the instability behavior of the Seoul Southwestern Baseball Dome. The nonlinear snapping phenomenon of the structure is investigated using the load mode through the structural analysis, given the design loads and the combination of these loads. With the initial imperfection, the bucking mode is obtained through the eigenvalue analysis of the tangential stiffness matrix and is used for the nonlinear analysis. However, the buckling mode is not considered in this research. Rather, this study investigates only the overall bucking phenomenon. For the analysis, a nonlinear program is used, called Nonlinear Analysis for Spatial Structures (NASS). Finally, results and findings from the geometrical nonlinear analysis are presented.
