Abstract
This paper aims to explore a new shape for designing a shell structure based on the notion of fractal geometry, and specifically concentrates on the morphogenesis of the fractal shape derived from a regular shape. For this, the Iterated Function System (IFS) is applied as a mathematical procedural method for automatic generation of fractal shape educed from a paraboloid shape by exploiting the dimensionality of the paraboloid’s smooth surface. As an additional but significant investigation, it further, but briefly explores the structural characteristics of the shell structure when the shape of shell structure transforms from paraboloid to fractal.
