Abstract
Neolithic carved stone balls from Scotland, decorated with more or less evenly-spaced knobs, are enigmatic objects which have approximately equal size and symmetrical appearance. This paper investigates the geometrical properties of different knob arrangements, and the inspiration that these stone balls have provided for contemporary art and architecture.
