Abstract
The Permeable Sponge Breakwater Shell Structure represents a novel structural-morphological conceptual approach, providing for a very efficient sea wave energy attenuation. It is ‘fill material free’ technology, and therefore environmentally sustainable and friendly. Its high geometrical periodicity substantiates its far reaching industrial fabrication and assembly. All these, when coupled with its structural-energetically efficiency characteristics (due to curvature and innerbonding) as shell structure, endows the Permeable Sponge Breakwater with high cost-effectiveness and economic viability.
