Abstract
The main idea of the paper is geometrical design of grid shell structures and its optimization based on form finding method, the dynamic relaxation method (DRM), which was proposed by Day. This method is energy minimization technique that searches static equilibrium state by simple vector iteration method. There are many important input values entering the calculation. All these values have a significant impact on the course of calculation and the resulting displacement of structure. Determining of the correct input values and its combinations affects the overall stability and convergence of the calculation. The paper is basically focused on form finding with the aid of computational tools that provide us to make many calculations with different input values and following obtain various results and compare them.
